Bareback by Kit Whitfield
The book is set in a world where being a lune (werewolf) is the norm. And these people ‘fur up’ once a month at the full moon. Lune’s and Non’s (or Bareback, which is a insult reference) are born this way, it doesn’t matter what the parents are, if the child is born feet-first, then they are a lyco and those born head-first are Barebacks.
The main character is a 30 something year old human women, Lola Galley. She is a non and once she turned 18 she was drafted into DORLA, the Department for the Ongoing Regulation of Lycanthropic Activity. This is were all non’s work because they are so few of them in the world. DORLA members insure that the one night of the month when most of the population is locked up, things run as smooth as possible.
Lola is a lawyer, among other things, she is assigned the case of Richard Ellaway who has bitten off her friends hand. The book follows her and her investigation and she uncovers a big secret that involves many important people.
I found that sometimes the book was a bit slow and sometimes I found Kit’s style of writing annoying at times. Overall I enjoyed the books concept of a world were ‘furing up’ was the norm.
Happy New Year!!

Well this is my first post for 2010…
Mum and Dad got me a sewing machine, which is good! I can’t wait to start doing crafty things with it
At the moment I have just been sewing up some cloths that I had done with hand.
But Troy got me the best present… *drum rolls*
This is the newest member to our little family, Pudge!
We picked him up from The Lost Dogs Home on Sunday the 27th of December, 2009. He is a just a champagne domestic medium hair, but I still love him ![]()
Before we picked him I got all the things he would need; kitty litter + tray, food/h2o bowls, food, bed and toys (lots of toys!)
Yes, as you can see, LOTS of toys! He will never be bored![]()
I will be adding more photo’s later on of my little Pudge
Oh and I’ve added some new pixels… They can be found in Pixelology ![]()
